You are confusing the "relief" for short sales. The law does not remove the obligation of debt. Simply eliminating the tax liability for the money not paid. Until the law was passed, you lost your home and then was beaten with a tax bill for the difference between what is owed and what was sold. No. The conference has decided that credit card companies can charge usurious rates of interest and drowning in debt. I have written Congress several times because they are punishing even those of us who pay our bills and never late. How in the hell they think that 28% of interest someone who did nothing but use the credit that was offered (and I've never been a second late on bill) may be legal is beyond me. The only "help" that is, it would file for bankruptcy if you meet the requirements and still will end up paying a load garbage to the company. We are being screwed so that corporations can make billions and pay their executives 30 million U.S. dollars a year. Once Bank of America Washington Mutual paid and never do business with them again. They are thieves.
