Home Mortage

Where I can take my form 1040 deduction of interest paid by a home mortgage?
I can not find anywhere on the form. Do I need to itemize my deductions to do this. The standard deductuion is $ 5150 and $ 2006 my interest was about $ 2,000. I have no other deductions to be included.
Yes, you have to itemize to deduct their mortgage interest. It is reported on Schedule A – line 10. Along with all other deductions detailed (doctors (only the excess above 7.% of AGI), the state or sales taxes, real property taxes, property taxes, points, interest investments, cash contributions, non-cash contributions, misc itemized deductions (only the excess above 2.% of AGI)). If your total deductions are higher than the $ 5,150 then you details, including mortgage interest, if not, then you could take the standard deduction.
