How to halt the process of buying a home?

I just made a bid for a cooperative on Sunday and the owner accepted the offer on Monday. The agent (seller) immediately called me and wanted to make an appointment for me to sign a waiver form with lead, and she pushes me to find a lawyer for us have a contract ready to sign later this week. This is my first time buying a home. It's not like buying shoes. I take the time to make sure everything is done correctly. I explained to the agent and she told me that there is no other offer. If I do not want, I do not drag the process. Is there any way to slow down the process? I still want to have a contractor look into it and negotiate the price with Owen. How do I do? Any suggestions? I do not work with some brokers in the search of houses just because I had the opportunity before finding this. I'm getting a lawyer for myself. If I get a broker to represent me? If so, do I have to pay my agent or seller no?
